The Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side, near the Kenyan border. Known for its less crowded paths, this route offers a gradual ascent, making it an excellent choice for trekkers seeking a steady and scenic climb.
Unlike other routes, Rongai provides a drier climate, reducing the chances of rain and making it a great option for trekking year-round. The trail passes through diverse landscapes, from lush forests and moorlands to the alpine desert, before reaching the breathtaking Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
With high summit success rates and a gentle acclimatization profile, Rongai is ideal for those looking for a quiet, remote, and rewarding Kilimanjaro experience.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), our Mi-Adventures Safari team will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in, you’ll meet your mountain guide for a pre-trek briefing and gear check. Enjoy dinner and rest before your climb begins.
